LURTON DU VIN ASSOCIATION

WINE, A FAMILY
HERITAGE

Winemakers since 1858

Composed of 11 members from the fourth Lurton-Récapet generation, the Lurton du Vin Association proudly continues the family’s commitment to wine, driven by a shared ambition: to keep a living heritage in constant evolution.

1858

A PASSION
THAT ENDURES

The Récapet family, millers in Saint-Émilion since 1650, settled in Branne, where Jean-François, known as “Léonce,” was born in 1858. He took over the family liqueur business.
In 1894, upon marrying Emma Thibeaud, who came from a family of winemakers, he fully devoted himself to viticulture.

1880

THE BEGINNINGS
OF A WINE EMPIRE

In the face of the phylloxera crisis, Léonce Récapet acquired several estates, including Belair, Montremblant, and then Château Bonnet in 1897, which he transformed into a true viticultural laboratory. In 1901, he purchased Château Reynier, while his son André, destined for a bright agricultural future, tragically died at Verdun in 1918.

1923

THE MARRIAGE

Denise, only daughter of Léonce Récapet, married François Lurton in 1923 and settled with him at Château Bonnet. Together, they had four children — Lucien, André, Dominique, and Simone — heirs to a thriving family vineyard, which was divided among them in 1953, while Clos Fourtet was inherited jointly in 1971 upon their father’s death.

1953

LURTON
GENERATION

André Lurton, founder of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, developed a 600-hectare vineyard and passed on his passion to his children.
His brother Lucien acquired numerous classified growths, which he bequeathed to his ten children, now at the head of prestigious Bordeaux estates.
Simone entrusted Château Franquinotte to her daughter Marie-Jeanne, while Dominique, father of four sons, passed on his estates in the Entre-deux-Mers and Côtes de Bordeaux to them in 1997.
